Good Morning OMISS'ers, it's summer time in the USA, and your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to Travel America.
A special summertime twist on the WAS theme, but it's actually an achievement type award for the OMISS community, therefore no QSL cards are necessary. It's very simple, but takes a little thought so you don't waste gas driving in circles.
Here are the rules to your summer vacation experience:
- You must start from the state you reside in by making a contact in an adjacent state. Obviously, you must return home by making a contact in your state of departure.
- You must travel state-to-state by crossing their common border, and only enter each state once. You must fly to Alaska and Hawaii and one other state.
- passports will not be issued. International boundaries will not be crossed and Spock cannot beam you anywhere. You must drive or use one of your three airline tickets. Flying across states does not count as crossing borders. You must land on/takeoff from or drive into/out of each state.
- OMISS times and nets must be used.
- Log extracts only required.
- Your vacation starts June 1 and ends September 30, 2007. Only one vacation may be taken per household.
You have three (3) one-way airline tickets to use to get from one state to another, but use them wisely. You have to fly to Alaska and Hawaii unless you have a yacht and or dogsled, but they are in the repair shop this summer. Also, one state has only one common border with another state, so you'll have to fly into or out of that state. Something you'll have to figure into your vacation itinerary.
There, you see, very simple rules, no back seat drivers required or allowed, you're in complete control of your Vacation America adventure.
Submit your OMISS Award Application, map and log extract, which should be in date worked order, and $4.00 for a nice Travel America certificate to:
